The Lugansk People’s Republic parliament has appointed Victoria Serdyukova to the post of the Republic’s ombudsperson, on recommendation by LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik.

The parliament, in a secret ballot, voted 38-3 to support Serdyukova who had worked at the Prosecutor General’s Office department for Supervision over Compliance with Law in the Military Sphere.

“I’m ready to make use of my 20-year professional work experience at government law-enforcement bodies, in case of a positive vote,” she said prior to the voting.

"The establishment of the ombudsperson’s office in the LPR is a significant contribution to the operation of all government bodies,” Serdyukova said.

At the very least, the functioning of this institution in cooperation with all bodies will be a reminder to the world which is not indifferent to the history lessons ,which we regrettably have more than enough; nevertheless our people, regardless of citizenship still experiences these consequences, and, sadly, even has to defend the right to life in this manner,” she added.

Earlier, the LPR parliament passed the law on the ombudsperson of the Lugansk People’s Republic. The document had been drawn at the instruction of LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik.
