The Lugansk People’s Republic Migration Service has issued more than 700,000 LPR passports to residents since the spring of 2015, the Interior Ministry public relations centre reported.
“By 2020, the number of LPR residents who had obtained republic passports had reached half a million. “As of now, this figure has topped 700,000,” the report said.
The Interior Ministry said it had carried out tremendous work to optimize the processing of documents, opened more Migration Service offices, launched electronic queues and hired more personnel.
"The flow of citizens seeking to obtain the LPR passport has not decreased despite the worsening situation and mounting of tensions by Ukraine as LPR residents show an active position and firm wish to have a document confirming their choice,” the public relations centre said.
The first ten LPR residents received republic passports on May 5, 2015.
LPR Interior Minister Igor Kornet handed in the 500,000th LPR passport to a coal miner from the town of Stakhanov in a solemn ceremony in August 2020.
On March 31, 2021, the LPR Interior Minister issued the 600,000th LPR passport to a geography teacher from Pervomaisk. *i*s
