Lugansk People’s Republic Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik has taken part in the opening of the updated newest history display at the Lugansk Local History Museum.
The Museum has doubled the number of LPR timeline exhibits.
The special guests were Russian Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Konstantin Mogilevsky, Russian senator from the LPR Olga Bas, United Russia political party’s Lugansk branch secretary Denis Miroshnichenko, LPR government deputy chairperson Anna Todorova, Russian Historical Society acting chairman Ruslan Gagkuyev and LPR Sport, Culture and Youth Minister Dmitry Sidorov.
“It’s a benchmark event because the display reflects not only the LPR history but also the life of each resident,” Pasechnik said. “They are the ordinary workers who took up arms to defend their Motherland in 2014, the rescuers who cleared the debris after barbaric bombings or the girl killed by western ordnance.”
“It also reflects the difficult and thorny path back home and our struggle for the right to speak our native language, defend our history, and stay in our land in friendship with the brotherly Russian people,” he said.
Pasechnik thanked the Russian president, the presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the Museum administration and all activists who contributed the exhibits.
“I’m confident that this display will help our grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their descendants to study the history of the Lugansk region. Our task is to preserve this memory for them, so that they can remember and know the the price the Lugansk region paid to return to Russia and what it had to go through,” he said.
“The unveiling of the display marks a step towards integration into Russia, Russian senator from the LPR Olga Bas said.
“United Russia” Lugansk branch secretary Denis Miroshnichenko called the display “emotion-evoking.” “You look at the exhibits and understand how strong our people are; they are a symbol of our region showing our resilience,” he said.
Lugansk Local History Museum Director Artyom Rubchenko said that six Museum personnel had joined the army and that Museum personnel had been supporting them in all ways.
The works to renew the museum hall began in November 2022.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Konstantin Mogilevsky told TASS that modern technology would be used to create a new display at a Lugansk Museum hall.
Late last spring, the Russian Historical Society established a branch in Lugansk and appointed Rubchenko its head.
Russia's Historical Society is a public scientific body with the mission to form all-Russian historical culture based on objective study, coverage and promotion of domestic and world history, and preserve national memory and cultural heritage.*i*v
