The Lugansk People’s Republic plans to repair the bridge across the Kamyshnaya river in the Streltsovka village, Melovskoy district, which was blown up by retreating Kiev forces, LPR Head Leonid Pasechnik said at a meeting with LPR residents.
A Melovskoy district resident thanked the LPR authorities for creating a detour road near the ruined bridge. He also asked if bridge repairs were in the plans.
“Of course we’re planning (bridge repairs). We’ve launched a rather serious program to rebuild the infrastructure across the Republic,” Pasechnik replied.
He said that the bridges in the LPR territory which had been ruined in the fighting would be rebuilt.
“We’ll restore what has been destroyed, including (the bridge in Streltsovka),” the LPR leader said adding that road repairs in the Melovskoy district were planned as well.
Earlier, LPR government chairman Sergey Kozlov said that as of March 22, the retreating Kiev forces had blown up 22 bridges and that the Republic would rebuild them.
Pasechnik said that Russia would provide assistance in restoring and building infrastructure in the Republic.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation to protect Donbass residents from Ukrainian aggression. The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The peace talks participants have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with large caliber artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn from the contact line under the accords. *i*s
