Lugansk People’s Republic Head Leonid Pasechnik has visited the Lugansk Republican Clinical Hospital (LRKB) to decorate militiamen wounded during the liberation of the Republic from Kiev forces.
Junior Sergeant Ivan Piskunov and Private Vladimir Saenko were decorated with the medal “For Courage” for heroism and valor they should in liberating and defending LPR settlements from Ukrainian armed aggression.
Both men are currently receiving treatment at the LRKB trauma centre; Piskunov suffered a mine blast trauma that left him without a foot and Saenko sustained a wound to the leg and gunshot thighbone fracture. Despite the serious wounds, both militiamen said that they were feeling well and that they had the necessary mediations and proper attention of medical personnel.
“Dear servicemen, guys, I want to tell you the words of deep gratitude for your hard fight, on my own behalf and from the bottom of my heart, and on behalf of all residents of the Republic, our mothers, women, elderly people and children. We see the consequences; regrettably, war is war,” Pasechnik said.
The LPR is working on welfare measures for servicemen; the families of the wounded and killed servicemen will get compensations worth 600,000 to five million rubles, he said.
“Here are my absolutely sincere words of gratitude to you, from the bottom of my heart for not sparing yourself and doing everything to liberate the land which has always belonged to us, for which our forefathers shad their blood not only in 1941, but throughout our glorious history,” the LPR Head said.
He also visited other wounded militiamen. “Thank you for your fight; you are truly heroes. Sadly, this is what happens at war; we’ll be resolving these problems together and make all efforts towards helping you recover,” Pasechnik said.
Activists of the Young Guard - Young Army Military-Patriotic Movement gave food kits to wounded militiamen. “We wish you a speedy recovery. Thank you very much for your efforts, for what you’ve done for our Republic,” they said.
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Donbass to protect residents of the region from Ukrainian aggression and called on Ukrainian troops to leave the combat zone. Earlier, the Heads of the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, Leonid Pasechnik and Denis Pushilin, requested Russian President Vladimir Putin to provide military assistance. LPR militia had liberated 54 Kiev-held settlements of the Republic by March 6.
The Ukrainian government launched the so-called anti-terrorist operation against Donbass in April 2014. The members of the Contact Group have announced ceasefire more than 20 times since the autumn of 2014. Kiev forces regularly violated the truce opening fire with large caliber artillery, mortars and tank guns which were to have been withdrawn from the contact line under the accords. *i
