The regional branch of the “United Russia” (ER) political party has nominated its candidates to run in the September parliamentary and municipal elections in the Lugansk People’s Republic.
LPR Acting Head Leonid Pasechnik who leads the party list is followed by ER Lugansk branch Secretary Denis Miroshnichenko, ER General Council member Viktor Vodolatsky, Russian senator for the LPR Olga Bas and LRP parliamentarian Zinaida Naden. The candidates were nominated in a secret ballot.
The list is based on the results of ER primaries at which residents selected the people they trusted.
“I’m sure they’ve put their trust in the worthiest, honest and decent people who know how to develop our native region, and most importantly, want to develop it,” Pasechnik said.
The party is preparing its People’s Program for the new regions and welcomes proposals from all residents, he said.
The ER Lugansk branch secretary said that mere than 50 percent of candidates were current members of parliament or local councils. Trade union representatives make up nearly 20 percent of all nominees, teachers, school directors, scientists, cultural workers and mass media employees more than 15 percent and young people 16 percent.
“United Russia” General Council Deputy Secretary Darya Lantratova said that Single Voting Day would be crucial for the future of the Republic. “One of the tasks we keep working on is to help our people get all the measures of support and social guarantees which are available in the Russian Federation,” she said.
ER General Council member Viktor Vodolatsky called the nomination of candidates in the LPR a “historical moment.”
The all-Russia political party is the vanguard and power of Russian president Vladimir Putin,” Vodolatsky said expressing the hope that ER would do everything to make life better in the regions.
Russian senator for the LPR Olga Bas said that the candidates are people who have already made their contribution to the establishment and development of the Republic. “They have been tempered in the heat of battles for our independence and for peace of Great Russia,” she said.
